Be informed

Whenever the people are well informed, they can be trusted with their own government; that whenever things get so far wrong as to attract their notice, they may be relied on to set them to rights

Thomas Jefferson

“Ignorance is no protection from the consequences of inaction”

Get involved

Politics suck, but if we don’t get involved with them they will control us. 2020 and the recent years proceeding should be a powerful lesson of what happens when we allow our lives to be directed by those who use them only to advance their agendas. An old lesson, to be sure, but it seems our society is hell bent on proving just how foolish it is to live this way. In order for us to mend properly and advance we must put a stop to being victimized this way.

The art of Discussion

Honest, polite, listening, consideration and counterpoints returned respectfully without the need to insult. Deal with the topic, not the person brining it.

We could be wrong – that’s okay

Approach debates with the idea that our points or ideas can be proven wrong to which we must be willing to accept and adjust accordingly.

Protests don’t work like they used to

These are different times from a society that once had social economic and political norms that could be threatened by mass protests. Circumstances have changed and the power brokers have created fortresses for them to work from. They’re effectively deaf to our voices.

About

Call me Kayelless. If it matters, I am a man, senior years, black and pretty much liberal minded. I get radical. I want to inspire life in a positive way. I have big spiritual faith.

Born and raised during the Civil Rights Era I’ve seen some things, experienced some things, lived some things and learned some things. I’ve gained a perspective forged through these many years of being black in America.

Things need to be said. Ideas to be shared, wisdom to be imparted and hope to be exhumed. A conversation, if you will, about us and how we can step a little further, stand a bit stronger while keeping the dream alive, so that we have a future that’s righteous, that’s life, that’s love, that’s sane.

Sit down. Let’s talk. There’s work to be done. This time let’s do it right.
